In our previous issue of the Bulletin (BACIT Vol 2, Issue 3) we published an article by William Harvey, entitled "Flight Simulation Scenery Technologies" .

Subsequently we received a letter from Nico Visagie from NMG Trading, South Africa , in which it was pointed out that the following reference was not correct:

“Aeroworx Scenery Division, based in South Africa, have developed replacement landclass scenery mesh for the entire southern African continent. They state that the 76m resolution is based on the Space Shuttle Radar Imagery and covers the entire Southern Africa including South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Angola, Gabon, Congo, DRC, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. Madagascar , Comoros , Seychelles , Reunion , Mauritius and Sao Tome .”

Further on the letter explained that “ Aeroworx never developed any landclass scenery for FS2004. We are the only people that ever did any landclass development for South Africa and only for the Western Cape region of South Africa . Aeroworx only developed terrain mesh for South Africa and not for all the countries as stated in your article. The terrain mesh for the countries above is in fact a product of us. The following clarification was sent to us by William Harvey:

“From the available information my research concluded that the scenery was the result of a collaborative effort between NMG Trading and Aeroworx. Based on the new information NMG Trading has given, this is obviously not the case. Consequently my original article has been updated to reflect this situation.“

We were very pleased to learn that BACIT had acquired international readership, and we were glad that the Bulletin had been able to help clarify a situation and contribute to research rigour.
