Supplementary Awards |
 11.1 The Personal Computer Drivers Licence | 11.1.1 The name of the award is the New Zealand PC Driver’s Licence. The recommended abbreviations are NZPCDL, or PCDL.
11.1.2 The ownership of the qualification resides with the National Advisory Committee on Computing Qualifications (NACCQ) and is administered by the NACCQ, on behalf of the Association of Polytechnics in New Zealand.
11.1.3 The purpose of the qualification is to identify to employers, individuals who have achieved a clear level of competence and understanding in the use of Personal Computers for business purposes.
11.1.4 Any student at a sector affiliate or any other accredited institution may apply for the award of the NZPCDL after they have passed the appropriate combination of courses by submitting a certified copy of their academic results and enclosing the appropriate fee.
PCDL requires the successful completion of 42 credits; i.e. 6 of the following 7 modules:

Note:Any of SP590 (SP190), SP591 (SP191), or SP592 (SP192) may be substituted for SP500 (SP100) and/or SP510 (SP110).
11.1.5Cross-credits from other qualifications for some or all parts of the PCDL may be acceptable if supported by documentation from the appropriate sector affiliate and approved by NACCQ.
11.1.6Holders of an ICDL, or a level 3 computing qualification, may be granted one seven-credit module (unspecified) towards their PCDL.
11.1.7Applications submitted under the previous PCDL regulations may be considered.
11.1.8An application fee is charged for the processing of the application, and, if accepted, the production of the document. This fee is recorded in the NACCQ Standards Manual.
11.1.9All modules must have been passed within the three years prior to the application for the licence.
11.1.10The application must include an annotated result notification from the accredited institution identifying each module’s code, name, date, and grade. Applications should be sent to The Secretariat, NACCQ, Box 11-050 Hamilton. A receipt for the application will be sent within one week, and advice about either acceptance or rejection of the application within one calendar month.
11.1.11 The procedures for dealing with and recording applications, including non-standard applications, and awards are contained in the NACCQ Standards Manual.
11.1.12The NACCQ Executive will ensure that the regulations of the PCDL are reviewed and updated annually. As part of their annual report, they will identify the number of licences issued that year, any special cases considered, and any changes to the regulations.

The details of courses, fees, and special processes described in the NACCQ Standards Manual will be advised to contributing sector affiliates annually.
