It has been some time since conference and many of you may be wondering what has been happening so I thought it was time for an update.
Migration from NACCQ to CITRENZ
“Promoting excellence in computing education”
The AGM held at the conference gave approval for the formation of CITRENZ (Computing and Information Technology Research and Education New Zealand) as a legal entity. Since that time legal advice has been sought and a Trust document has been created so that an application can be made to form the CITRENZ Trust. The trustees of the Trust will be the executive of CITRENZ who are the academic and industry regional representatives. Each of the five regions has nominated one academic representative, and academic deputy and one industry representative.
The representatives nominated by each of the regions are as follows:
|
|
Northern North Island Region |
Central North Island Region |
Lower North Island Region |
Upper South Island Region |
Lower South Island Region |
|
Academic Rep |
Michael Andrews |
Garry Roberton |
Stephen Corich |
Alison Clear |
Sam Mann |
|
Academic Deputy |
Chris Mayhew |
David Scadden |
Catherine Snell-Siddle |
Mary-Clare Proctor |
Scott Morton |
|
Industry Rep |
Collin Pillay (Toll Networks NZ) |
David Hallett (Need a Nerd) |
Murray Wills (Maxsys NZ) |
John Ascroft (Jade) |
Matt Tulloch (Intergen) |
The first executive meeting of CITRENZ will be held towards the end of October.
The new executive has a number of issues they will need to address, including:
· The role and direction of the new organisation
· Reviewing the Rules and Regulations
· Reviewing the role and membership of the working groups
· Migration of the existing qualifications to CITRENZ
· Redevelopment of the Bluebook qualifications
· Strengthening industry relationships and involvement
Thanks to our retiring industry representatives
A number of industry representatives who have served us so long and so well are retiring and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank you all for your valuable input and support. Since the inception of NACCQ, industry input has been valued greatly. You have all freely given your time and your advice and direction has helped shape the qualifications that we offer and you will be missed but not forgotten.
Those who are leaving include:
· Carol Kelly, Computer consultant
· Laurie Bisman, ATC College, Christchurch
· Andrew Mason, BSA Ltd
· Colin Boswell, Boswell Consulting
· Kerry Glynn, SSI Limited
· Paul Lo, Microsoft
· Judith Speight – Accelerating Auckland
John Ascroft from Jade Software will continue as the Upper South Island industry representative.
The First CITRENZ Conference
The first CITRENZ conference has been and gone, and thanks to Lesley and her team of willing helpers it was a great success. Dave Scadden is promising that the second CITRENZ conference to be held at Rotorua will be just as exciting. So now is a good time to start thinking about what you are going to present in 2011 and start writing.
