Managing Information, Resources, Rights and People
David Parry (
dparry@aut.ac.nz )
One of the nagging thoughts I have when
sitting at my computer is how much I manage it, and how much it manages me. My
definition of management is based around the concept of getting work done
efficiently without doing it all oneself. The articles in this issue of BACIT
deal with management issues that confront …

Douglas White ( douglas.white@nzcs.org.nz )
There are
compelling reasons for ICT practitioners in New Zealand to be recognised by
their peers, employers, Government and the by the whole community as
ICT professionals, rather than merely practitioners. ICT certification is not only desirable, but essential...

Braja Podder ( brapod96@aut.ac.nz

content providers, distributors and consumers involved in the supply chain.
Studies supporting DRM systems have expressed its success in maintaining the
provisions of copyright law….
Managing Radical Software Engineers
Kevin C. Desouza (
desouza@engagedenterprise.com ) & Yukika Awazu (
awazu@engagedenterprise.com
)
Innovations in software engineering organizations frequently emerge from
risky behavior. Most often, these risks are taken by only a small percentage
of the staff – the radical engineers (REs). They go against the status quo,
experiment with new methods or technologies, and bring innovations into the
mainstream…
Impact of Appropriation and Participation on Decision Outcomes
Praveen Sadasivan (
prasad78@aut.ac.nz )
The efficiency of Group Decision Support Systems (GDSS) and related
collaborative systems is an aid to globalisation. This study investigated the
impact of appropriation of technology and participation by groups on decision

Lookup and Discovery in a Jini Architecture
Ron Zucker (
rjzucker@csee.usf.edu )
Jini is an existing and evolving technology that is providing a new
