The Universal College for learning

The Universal College of Learning (UCOL) is one of New Zealand's fastest growing tertiary education institutes, with over 8000 full and part-time students. Founded in 1907, UCOL has a proud tradition of excellence in professional and technical education. From its four campuses in Palmerston North, Wanganui, Wairarapa and Levin UCOL offers certificate, diploma, degree and post-graduate courses on a part-time, full-time or flexible delivery basis. Study options include business, computing, childcare, horticulture, forestry, visual arts, fashion, design, computer graphic design, performing arts, photography, nursing, health sciences, science and technology, hospitality, tourism, trades and industrial technology, English as a second language, human services, sports, fitness and recreation.

The current Palmerston North UCOL campus opened in 1999 and is in the centre of the city. The striking inner-city campus is one of the most modern and high-tech in the country. Custom designed and equipped laboratories, workshops, computer suites, studios, kitchens and classrooms are adjacent to the vibrant commercial and entertainment heart of one of the North Island's top student cities. Knowledge and research are major industries in Palmerston North. The city, with a population of over 73,000, is known as Palmerston North-Knowledge City, young at heart and easy living.
