Introduction
Less than four weeks to go to Conference 2004! At 2.30pm Friday, we had 200 Conference delegates registered!
The conference organising committee met in Christchurch a few weekends ago to put the finishing touches to what looks to be the biggest, best conference ever! Thanks to the hard work of this committee all arrangements are in hand.
Conference Agenda
The team working on the conference agenda has again put together a suburb
agenda. In doing so a number of requests for last minute changes have been accommodated.
In addition, there has been a considerable amount of time and energy invested
to optimize the agenda to make sure that presentations are placed in timeslots
to allow colleagues to attend the presentations of delegates from their own
institutions.
Tony Clear has been organizing the Chairs of all Sessions whilst Alison Young
has been liaising with visiting Keynote Speakers. Check the agenda on http://www.naccq.ac.nz/conference04.html?page=23
Papers
Sam Mann, assisted by Tony Clear, has again undertaken the massive task of receiving the individual papers for the presentations and posters. Once received the papers then need to be converted to a suitable format for output to the high quality Conference publication we are all used to. Sam and Tony are doing a magnificent job.
Posters
Posters are to be 800cm x 1000cm (portrait orientation) on solid board. The committee suggests you make your posters on the boards used by the real estate agents (“corflute”), and you have eyelets in all corners to allow for your poster to be attached to the poster stands. If you have any technical queries about your posters, please contact Chris McCarthy mccarthycm@cpit.ac.nz
Ann Field of Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT) is the person you will approach at Conference concerning where to place your poster. Posters will be on display for one day of the conference, and Poster Presenters are asked to present their poster during the morning tea break. A preliminary schedule of who is to present their poster on what day is not yet available but when it is available it will be published on the conference web site, so check (closer to the Conference date) http://www.naccq.ac.nz/conference04.html?page=24 for details.
Venue & Accommodation
The CPIT Conference team has worked hard to make sure all is ready at the venue. Vivienne Wetere has again done a first-rate job in arranging the accommodation. A list of who is staying where has been sent to members. If you don’t receive this, ask your Manager, or e-mail Viv. viviennew@wave.co.nz
If you wish to arrive at the conference early e.g. Monday or stay later e.g. Friday and the weekend, please tell Viv so she can arrange your accommodation with the hotel for the extra nights at your own cost. If you’re staying elsewhere then it’s your own responsibility to book your accommodation.
Registration
Late registrations are still being accepted.
Changes to Travel Bookings
Please note any changes to air bookings that have been made on your behalf will be at your own expense.
Social Activities
The conference dinner this year is on Thursday 8th July. The theme for the dinner is “Red
and Black”. We hope you will join in the fun and dress to the theme.
Workshops
