CITRUS launch at UNITEC

The first hub of the New Zealand Centres for Information Technology Research was officially launched at UNITEC Institute of Technology on 1st May 2003. Present at the launch was the Peruvian ambassador, His Excellency Javier Leon Olavarria, who spoke glowingly about a CITRUS research project to introduce computing and satellite technology to a remote village situated in the mountains of Peru. The Director of CITRUS at UNITEC, Andy Williamson, announced that the Centre is encouraging and supporting collaborative research among member institutions of NACCQ. One of the first CITRUS project is SEPIA, the Software Engineering Process Improvement Alliance. SEPIA is a collaborative research alliance whose members are geographically dispersed throughout the country and includes one from across the Tasman Sea in Melbourne. Further information about CITRUS at UNITEC can be found at http://citrus.unitec.ac.nz and for information on CITRUS nationally, see http://www.citrus.ac.nz.
