Recent Developments at Whitireia

Trish Brimblecombe

Recently the School of Computing at Whitireia achieved accreditation as a test centre for the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL). The first person to pass all seven modules and gain her ICDL was Pru Copping, the School’s Administrative Assistant.

Four new local awards are now available for students enrolled in the NACCQ Diploma of Business Computing (DipBC). Modules have been grouped in various specialisations leading to Whitireia Diplomas in Programming, System Development, Technical Support, and Web Site Development & Administration.

Since 2000 we have been phasing in the Bachelor of Information Technology (BInfoTech), and in 2002 will be introducing the third and final year. We are also running a Summer School transition programme December 2001-February 2002 for DipBC students. Those who complete the programme successfully will be given entry to the BInfoTech Year 3.
