Certificate/Diploma in eCommerce:
The certificate programme will run for full time students in 2002 (part time pilot delivered this year) and all papers on this programme may be credited towards either the Bachelor of Applied Information Systems degree or the Bachelor of Business Management degree. One of the papers on the diploma programme - eLaw - will be run both as an on-site paper and by distance delivery. An article by David Watson on page 10 of the October 15th issue of Computerworld New Zealand provides further detail.

New Zealand PC Drivers Licence:
Offered as a pilot programme in 2001, the NZPCDL will be offered on two Northland Polytechnic campus sites - Whangarei and Bay of Islands for 2002.

New for 2002 Certicate in IT industry certification:
Due to the increasing number of inquiries about IT certification, we have offered isolated courses for the last two years in CompTIA's A+ and Networks+ and iNet+ and other smaller topics. The request from members of the community is to bundle a number of these courses together as both an internal qualification (Northland Polytechnic) whilst providing opportunities for the external certification via our Whangarei testing site. Other courses being considered include the LINUX + ; Server+ and of course, popular selections of the ubiquitous Microsoft stable.

School Holiday Programmes:
This year we canvassed the local high schools with a view to offering suitable short school holiday programmes to 6th and 7th Form students who are interested in aspect of IT as a career option. These programme were run in the Easter and September breaks and have been fully subscribed. Topics included, amongst others, Visual BASIC (4 days); HTML ( 1 or 3 days); mini PC Technician (2 days); INTERNET skills for school research projects (1 day); INTERNET skills for educators (1 day). We have also received requests for specific "tailor made" courses to suit a particular school's needs. So far the feed back on content and delivery has been excellent and we anticipate a small number of these school leavers to enter our mainstream courses in 2002.
