New Appointment at WITT

In January, Dr Noel Bridgeman took over the job as Head of the Department of Information Systems at the Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT). He looks forward to picking up where he left off in 1996.
The target for the number of EFTS the Department has to produce for 2002 has been increased by 50 above what was achieved in 2001.
WITT has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Beijing Polytechnic University (BPU) for a 1+ 3 model of teaching. The BPU will teach a Foundation Year in Beijing where the students will study an intensive english language course, plus a number of computing papers. Given that they pass the English Language Test at the end of the year, they will then be eligible to come to WITT to enroll and study for a further 3 years in the WITT BAppIS degree. WITT expects the first 30 students from this programme to be in New Plymouth in February 2003.
We are fortunate to have a stable staff for 2002, with one new part-time tutor joining our existing staff of very experienced tutors.
