CITRUS Update

Andy Williamson

The recent NACCQ Executive and AQ&S; meetings have now worked through the structure of CITRUS so that the overall name will be owned and operated by a newly established CITRUS Charitable Trust. Initial trustees will be selected by the executive at their next meeting. The national body will help coordinate and establish networking models but is intentionally light-weight, it won't involve itself directly in the day to day operation of local CITRUS hubs. This is to ensure that CITRUS hubs are locally owned and totally responsive to their local stakeholders.

Local CITRUS hubs are moving forward, with plans for Otago Polytechnic's student incubator now well developed and UNITEC's proposal to establish a research centre now with their Senior Management Team for review. WITT looks like being third off the blocks with a CITRUS hub and there has been considerable interest from other member institutions. CITRUS has formally endorsed an AUT-driven application for FRST funding for the SODIS project and will become the New Zealand member of CSERGI (Computer Science Education Research Group International) once functional.
