NACCQ Executive Committee News Donald Joyce |
e-Commerce Diplomas
There has been some discussion about NACCQ adding a graduate diploma in e-commerce to our stable of national qualifications. When the executive discussed the idea at its November meeting, industry members advised us that the need for such a qualification was likely to be short-lived. This
is because e-commerce issues are being introduced into NDBC and into
various degrees offered in the polytechnic sector, so there will be only a
limited demand for graduate diplomas in e-commerce (mostly from
practitioners). We believe that such programmes will be offered at CIT,
CPIT, TWP and UCOL in 2001 and others may well have similar plans. In
light of the information available, the advice given, the time required
and the likely cost, the executive decided not to develop a national
qualification.
Hot Topics for Seminars
At the beginning of the year, NACCQ's Academic Quality and Support Working
Group held a very successful seminar on object oriented databases in
Auckland. We would like to offer another seminar next year - probably in
Wellington - and are looking for suggestions as to a suitable "hot topic".
Please email your ideas to viviennew@naccq.ac.nz. Suggestions from the
executive included : software testing, and how should analysis and design
adapt to the 21st century.
